"Bring Your Sons and Daughters to Work" Day

Chris and I are taking Bria to work with us for "Bring Your Sons and Daughters to Work" Day.

I think we are more excited about it than she is!!

She's still a little young, as the preferred age group is Kindergarten through High School.
But we're sure she'll get a kick out of it anyway.

I just can't believe she's that big already! Seems like yesterday I needed a stroller to bring her into the office to let my co-workers see our "new baby"!

And speaking of "babies", CJ is gonna spend the day with Emelie while Bria comes to work with us. Although he's a toddler now and not a baby anymore either. *sigh*

Perseverance... by Anne Stortz

I've carried this poem with me for the past year and never tire of reading it. In light of last week's tragedy at VT I thought I'd share it with you all:

When all the world is looming dark
And things seem not so clear,
When shadows seem to hover 'round,
Lord, may I persevere.
When it seems everythings's been tried
And there's no way to go,
Just let me keep remembering
Sometimes the journey's slow.
I may just need to stop and rest
Along the path I trod,
A time to try to understand
And have my talk with God.
As I gain new strength to carry on
Without a doubt or fear,
Somehow I know things will be right,
And so, I persevere.

Daddy tries to play Wii

Poor Chris... he's trying to work on his tennis score but CJ has other ideas.

Daddy's legs just make a terrific tunnel for little people land! ;-)

The family room doesn't ALWAYS look like that BTW... we try to rotate the different toys in and out and this day was the Little People toys. CJ loves them. He'll sit and play for a good hour which is very good for him!

Town Easter Egg Hunt

We had fun at the town's Easte Egg Hunt last Saturday.. Here are a few pictures. It was a bit chilly. And CJ wasn't too sure what to make of the Easter Bunny! :-)

Bia got a green turtle made out of a long balloon from one of the clowns.

Chris and Bria share a warm pretzel waiting for the egg hunt to begin.

The kids after CJ's hunt for eggs. :-) He caught on pretty fast, but still wanted to sit down after finding each egg and really look at it. hehe

"Best" Friends, Little Girls, and Stuff..

We had a bit of drama at preschool the other week. Seems the concept of "best friends" has taken hold of the girls in the class. Now they're all competing to claim their "best" friends... and "best, best, best" friends. And Bria is in the thick of it. At the moment, a few of the girls are bickering over who gets to be Bria's "best" friend. Apparently there were some hurt feelings resulting in one of the moms talking to the teacher about it. We don't even use that term at home. Ugh! They're only 4! The teacher didn't escalate it but I got wind of it anyway.

So I had a talk with Bria to make sure she wasn't instigating anything and to find out what role she played in the whole drama.
Even at 4, we don't want her picking up any "mean girl" habits; but she's not.

It seems that she's just the recipient of multiple invitations to "play w/me" and "sit w/me" at the same time. The best I could do was suggest she respond with "Let's all play together" and "Lets all sit together" whenever that happens again.

By next week, they'll all probably be competing for another girl's friendship.

Of course I've worried about it and how to properly handle it all week.
Any advice out there?

Exercise and Chocolate :-)

I begged out of the last two classes of Baby & Me Exercise. CJ wasn't liking it and I couldn't see restraining him for the entire hour. Kinda went against the whole purpose of the class ya know? So we did other things together and I'm trying to get my exercise in via other means.

Even got Chris to walk with me at lunch on the days I was at work! That was fun :-) and healthy... even if we did stop at a new chocolate shop nearby on the first day to sample their truffles! haha

Here's a picture of the kids just being silly.
